1. From the Lase Med Inc. Patient Info Packet:
One of the most commonly asked questions we are requested to answer almost every day, is the following:
"If your method is so successful, how is it possible that you are the only organization in the country offering it?"
Aside from the obvious reason, which is related to International Patent Rights, the answer to that question may be found in the enclosed documents, advertising research presently being conducted at what are generally recognized as very prestigious Institutions; in other words, Universities classified as "best of the best."
The most astonishing fact is that "everybody and their brother," as they would say in the South, seem to be directing research efforts toward an attempt to "re-invent the wheel," in the hope to circumvent our Patent and grab the credit for what not only they did not do, but have loudly criticized and ridiculed for years.
So, while the privileged inhabitants of the "Ivory Tower" claim to be nearing the much awaited solution to cancer, but caution that such a happy day is still years of research away, we at LASE MED, Inc. have been successfully treating patients since the inset of this millennium and continue to send our patients home with their tumors killed.

The above paragraphs have been a part of our Patient Info Packet for many years now, attached to articles published by various Institutions, each claiming credit for this "new" innovation. For this reason we collectively refer to them as the "Copycat Articles."
At right are scans of the original "Copycat Articles" from the LMI Patient Info Packet. (Click to enlarge, click again to close window.)
The first report shown above refers to "Copy Cat" research done utilizing carbon nano particles, at a very prestigious US University, in an attempt to circumvent our Patent by utilizing a different enhancing compound. However, this particular research effort appears to have been significantly reduced, if not brought to a halt, at the University in question, possibly due to findings indicating toxicity of said nano particles. Dr. Carpenter would have predicted such a problem and would have saved a waste of research funds, had anybody bothered to consult her.

Yet very recently, another University, for what ever reason, has been claiming ownership of a "breakthrough" in cancer treatment, which would kill tumors in place, utilizing LASERs and the carbon nano particles. In our view, this move would make this latter University a "Copy Cat of Copy Cats." To view a report indicating problems with carbon nano particles, click the link below:

2. The U.A.M.S. (University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences) Cancer Research Ripoff:
The two-page document shown at right, a copy of a news report, indicates what the "Copy Cat of Copy Cats" announced at a recent press conference, held in Little Rock, AR, on May 18 of 2009. Interested readers might also like to know that this particular Institution of higher education was the very first medical facility that the LMI founders approached, with their then leading-edge-of-technology innovation, already two years into their research effort.
THIS HAPPENED IN 1988!
After a little more than twenty years of trying to figure out and copy the LMI's technology and methodology, this same Institution is now resorting to not only copying the work already done at other very respected Universities, with the same pitfalls, but it is also claiming ownership of the innovation.
This ridiculous claim is discussed further on our "sister" web site: MedicalConspiracy.com, in an article discussed on the "News" page, and also in the "Archive" section, approximately fourteen minutes into the May 23rd broadcast.
|
|
Then, on the 25th of May, 2009, after at least one public discussion about possible patent infringement had already been aired on The Steve Duignan Show, a daily radio broadcast from Fort Smith, Arkansas, and after having spoken with Lase Med Inc. officials, The Arkansas Business Journal released this follow-up story, with a rebuttal from a representative of the UAMS / UALR team, still disseminating the mistaken (or deliberately misrepresented) premise that LMI's patented methodology incorporates the use of the now infamous "nano structures." At right are page scans of this article; and below are our responses to the statement issued by the UAMS team's representative. |
|
|
Our responses to the statement issued by the UAMS team's representative.
• "Lase Med's procedure is different because it uses a different wavelength and nanotubes with a lesser degree of purity;"
First of all, the range of acceptable wavelengths of LASER light is pretty narrow and quite well defined, if damage to healthy tissue is to be avoided. Consequently UAMS has to use a wavelength falling within the parameters listed in our patent.
Secondly, we do not use carbon nano tubes, because we started our work long before the nano tubes were developed; and by the way, that work was not done at UAMS. The terminology "nano particle" is simply a way to impress the public, even though something scientifically obvious is being discussed.
• "Lase Med does not address the issue of toxicity;"
As stated in our patent, the central issue is to use a chromophore (stain) with a window of absorption which includes the LASER light to be used and which is also non-toxic. We did not use molecular engineering, as in the case of Stanford or Rice University, to develop an adequate stain; we simply used something already in existence and FDA approved for many years.
All of the above work was accomplished years ago, without any grant funding, nor public assistance of any kind, and very little investment capital also. That should conclude the discussion on LASE MED, Inc.'s not conducting toxicity testing.
• "Lase Med is not engaged with the medical community."
Finally, why should utilizing one MD or more be better than relying on the Patent Holder/ Physicist/ ND? The reasons for Lase Med, Inc.'s not being "engaged" with the medical community are self-evident, and are presented for public review on this page and on the Medical Conspiracy site.
The above article also makes brief mention of the "boiling point" which was reached with the medical community in Arkansas, when a full-page ad for Lase Med Inc. appeared in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The resulting attacks and harassment from the medical community, and the subsequent decision to relocate the Lase Med Inc. Treatment Center to the progressive state of Oklahoma, are discussed here.

3. The Electro Chemical Society, Meeting #215:
On May 24 to May 29, 2009, a meeting was held in San Francisco, CA, to discuss the use, in medicine and biology, of carbon nano tubes and nano structures. A copy of the program is shown below.
The reason for addressing this event originates from the fact that one of the papers presented at this meeting is discussing the use of nano structures in Photo Dynamic Therapy, and in doing so, is stressing the necessity to use chromophores with maximum of absorption in a specific range of wavelengths.
Exactly our point, which we have stressed for 25 years to date! The articles in their entirety can be found here in .pdf format. We have included page scans of the relevant articles below. |

4. The Royal Society of Great Britain:
On June 30th of 2009, there was a press release entitled: "Light Therapy Offers New Hope For Breast Cancer Patients" This research group is actually claiming to be the FIRST to utilize PDT on breast cancer. According to the article, " A groundbreaking non-invasive breast cancer treatment will be unveiled at this year's Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition. Scientists led by world-renowned breast cancer expert, Mr. Mo Keshtgar, are the first to use photodynamic therapy (PDT) to treat what is now the most common cancer in the UK."
The brainchild of this exhibition is a PDT program in the UK being done in the name of research, promoting the use of laser PDT for many types of cancer. Their website is here www.killingcancer.co.uk . In their website they plainly state what LASE MED has been saying all along, that it is the HEAT produced by the laser and enhancer which kills the tumor mass. Of course, there is also a "beware" section of the website, in which they claim to be the only ones who are properly treating cancer with PDT, due to their scrutiny and oversight by the NHS of Great Britain.

This page will be updated regularly, with the most recent items of note toward the bottom; but for an overall idea of how the research trends in PDT for cancer have literally exploded recently, with no due credit whatsoever given to LASE MED INC's Technical Team, upon whose TWENTIETH CENTURY research and results each and every one of them stands; you can click here to see current search results from Google for this new trend in cancer research.
